  Volunteer Staff
English Spaces generally have an English only language policy, which creates an immersion environment where learners are surrounded by English. Generally, some staff are needed to make sure the policy is followed and facilitate conversation. The spaces at the GSGU schools are mainly staffed with student volunteers from the university, many of whom have lived overseas and speak English fluently. Teaching staff also spend time in these spaces. The learners benefit from this increased exposure to English; picking up new expressions, developing their sense of grammar, improving their listening skills, and building up their confidence to speak. By creating an environment in which learners have frequent encounters with English speakers and use English to interact with each other and with staff, we aim to develop the learners' willingness to communicate in English.

通常、英語スペースでは「英語しか使わない」というポリシーを持ち、学習者は英語スペース内で常に英語に囲まれ、英語に浸れる環境が望まれます。一般的に、英語スペース内のポリシーが守られているかを確認し、英語コミュニケーションを促進するために、数名のスタッフ（チューター）が必要です。
岐阜聖徳学園大学の国際ラウンジのスタッフは、海外で暮らした経験があり、流暢な英語を話す学生のボランティアです。彼らスタッフは平日の多くの時間を英語スペースで費やします。
スタッフの存在は英語スペース内での英語発露の増加につながり、英語スペースに集う学習者が、新しい英語表現を見いだし、英文法の感覚を養い、リスニングスキルを向上させ、英会話に自信を持つといった恩恵をもたらします。
英語スペースは、学習者に英語を話す人々との頻繁な出会いを演出し、学習者がスタッフらと会話するために英語を使おうとすることによって、英語による意欲的なコミュニケーション（WTC）を促進することを目指します。
